Desolate Country (https://desolatecountry.com/)is an interactive digital map that visualizes a "sexual abuse disclosure list" published by one community of US Catholic priests and brothers: the Western province of the Society of Jesus. By doing so, the map shows how a group of 112 priests and brothers "credibly accused of abuse" moved from place to place during their careers, especially to missions and boarding schools for Native young people. Desolate Country was created by Dr. Jack Downey and Dr. Kathleen Holscher, with support from the Religion & Sexual Abuse Project and the Henry Luce Foundation. For more, see this write up on Desolate Country in Indian Country Today.
